Glen Preece, Song of the River

Colville Gallery

Show opens Tuesday June 8, 5.30pm

Glen Preece is an Australian painter who brings an Impressionist sensibility to the genre of the figure in the landscape. Glen brings forth a gentle narrative of the figure floating through and observing scenes, quiet stories of people, the uplifting sense of enchantment with clouds, birds, the light on the water, the calm stillness, the poetic.

Originally trained Julian Ashtons Art School Sydney, Glen has held numerous solo exhibitions in Artarmon Galleries, Sydney and Painter and Hall Gallery, St. James, London. An accomplished painter now living in Tasmania, these works engage with the Huon, the Derwent and Franklin Rivers that edge along the valley.

Preece has been a Finalist in a number of figurative art awards including Gallipoli Art Prize 2014-19, Moran Portraiture Prize 2017, Archibald Salon des Refuses 2016, Black Swan Art Prize 2018, Manning and Kilgour Art Prize. His work in held in numerous collections including Olivetti and Westpac with private commissions including Dame Joan Sutherland.
