Bob Frost was born in Wales, went to sea at 17, and sailed as an officer on all the Orient Line ships of the day. Later he worked with international companies and lived in the Bahamas, the US and Israel. His work took him to more than 100 countries, until he retired to Tasmania in 2004, after first visiting the island in 1957. The challenge, he says, was to find somewhere with more cows and sheep than people.
