Join us at 5:30pm on 22nd May 2025 at Hobart Bookshop for the launch of a new collection by Tasmanian poet Tony Brennan, And Then a Blue Wren.

In this collection Brennan invites readers to “savour moments of beauty and mystery in life’s quiet, untamed spaces… Brennan writes with charm, humour and poignancy about encounters with taxi drivers, dentists and those he loves, as well as reflecting on his own emotional and spiritual journey in rich and creative ways. From city streets to windswept coastlines, Brennan uses a satisfying range of forms and poetic skills to capture the delights and challenges of both solitude and connection. And Then a Blue Wren brings refreshing meaning and reverence to the everyday.” -- Susan Austin, author of Dancing with Empty Prams

Tony Brennan is a Tasmanian poet, teacher and father of three. He has published a poetry collection entitled A Beauty that Catches (Burringbah Books, 2016) and has had poetry published in Australian Poetry Journal, Curious Record, Extempore, Oxygen, Poetry Matters, Sotto, Studio and The Burrow. In 2013, with Jan Colville, Lorraine Haig and Kate Tongs, he contributed to a collaboration called The Persistence of Song. He lives in the far south of Tasmania.
